“Had a lovely stay here, didn’t know what to expect with some reviews but we were at an event here and thought we would stay the night.
Front desk staff slightly miserable which is always gutting when you first arrive as it cost money to stay away over night and it’s something you look forward to but being greeted miserably isn’t a great start. But we got our room key and that was that. Lovely hallway with staircase, carpet shabby and needs replacing, otherwise a lovely entrance. Room was clean and tidy, needs a full refurb but absolutely no problem for a one night stay. Bathroom adequate but tiling awful! Shower was like being in a coffin but nice touches with the body wash and shampoo and in the room tea and biscuits. Couldn’t really fault this place other than the things I’ve mentioned and would return if we had another function and stay the night. Cleaning staff so friendly, they were working hard as we left. Thank you for a lovely stay “

“Small room but comfortable and we had almost everything we needed except a towel rail! Difficult to find somewhere to dry the towels after a shower. Hotel close to the sea and, although there was a path from the hotel towards the sea, it opened out onto the golf course and not sure whether you are allowed to use it, but we did anyway! The person at the desk knew nothing about it. We didn’t eat in the hotel as we ate at lunch where we were visiting but £17.50 for breakfast was a lot to pay. 25 minute walk to the station but was to get into Liverpool from there.”

“The hotel is in a real castle, but internally is very much an old hotel. Although old its well maintained, clean and friendly helpful staff. Good value and breakfast. Not for anyone looking for luxury, but thats why its the price it is. “

“We turned up very late (around 12:30am) and there were two weddings taking place. Which wasn’t a problem, but all the guests were blocking the entrance doors which made it a bit awkward to enter.

We were asked to pay £200 authorisation (which wasn’t mentioned when booking) because people often leave the room in a bad state.

We were also asked for our ID so they could scan, when we asked why that was necessary they said it was because they had incidents where people had arrived with guests whose age was questionable.

The room was average as far as size and cleanliness, pillows were rock hard. Toiletries were provided as well as tea/coffee. There was black mould/mildew on the bathroom ceiling and the shower didn’t look clean enough to step in so just took a wash in the sink.

Somewhere to sleep but not really somewhere to enjoy.”

“The food was excellent We had a Sunday roast which was the best taste and excellent presentation > The cooked breakfast was freshly made and lots to choose from . compliments to the chef whom i spoke to personally to compliment him . The staff were friendly and very helpful Although the weather was against us we thoroughly enjoyed our stay and will be returning in the near future hopefully .Also our room was clean and comfortable and had all the amenities we needed. I would recommend this hotel to anyone as it was also good value for money x”
